EMMA Energy was one of the 15 Chilean companies that participated in the Innovation Day 2022 event, one of the most important ecosystems of innovation, entrepreneurship and technological development in the world, which took place in Boston.
María Luisa Lozano, CEO of EMMA Energy, noted that the trip to the United States was an intense and highly educational experience: "We worked with mentors who gave us tools to improve sales, internal processes, and define the most appropriate strategies to accelerate our growth."
Lozano explained that this event was a great opportunity for networking, collaboration, and reaching new clients.
"We established business connections with various representatives from industrial and business sectors," adding that in this space they had the opportunity to visit the Massachusetts Department of Energy, "there we were able to learn about the energy efficiency programs they implement and as a result of that connection we analyzed the possibility of entering the North American market," he added.
To achieve that goal, EMMA Energy's challenge will be to first consolidate its position in the domestic market, then grow in Latin America, and finally establish itself in the United States by 2024.
Another positive aspect was the opportunity to showcase EMMA Energy's work to the event attendees. "The reception was very positive and helped us confirm that our proposal delivers solutions with global reach," he emphasized.
Chile's visibility abroad
Mickle Foretic, General Manager of Facto, a company dedicated to developing national and international e-commerce projects and resource management solutions, had a similar experience. "We received training, sales mentoring, and networking opportunities. We also learned about the business culture and closed deals with our first clients to begin operations in that country, successfully achieving the objective of the trip," he said.
Meanwhile, Valentina Ducasse, CEO and Founder of Kon3cta, a corporate platform for measuring and managing organizational well-being, highlighted that "participating in one of the most important innovation ecosystems and hubs in the world was a very enriching experience, and we learned about some of the solutions being developed in the area of well-being and mental health."
Ducasse stated that his main objective was to find alliances and connections that would allow them to make a significant transfer of data models and machine learning. "We managed to connect with important partners who can provide us with cutting-edge artificial intelligence-based technology to improve the emotional well-being of the thousands of people who currently use our software," he pointed out.
Pablo Cassorla, CEO and founder of Remote Waters, a startup that implements low-cost, quick-to-install water purification systems for communities with limited access to drinking water, mentioned that after participating in Boston, they were able to learn about the various water pollution problems they face. "They spend a lot on water reuse, and the US is also experiencing the worst drought in its history. This allowed us to realize that developed countries have similar problems to ours."
Cassorla explained that during their stay, they were able to forge connections and establish clear objectives: “We were able to visit water treatment plants and spoke with investors and lawyers about setting up operations there. Now we are developing our plan to enter the United States in 2023. We will also focus on our validation pilot project to provide access to clean water for communities. The goal is to make the industry more efficient and reduce the water footprint, which is one of the objectives of global companies,” she concluded.
