ProChile and Climatech Chile hold the first Demo Day of export climate solutions
With the presence of the General Director of ProChile, Ignacio Fernández, and the President of the Trade Association Climatech Chile and founder of Suncast, Constanza Levicán; the first Demo Day of Export Climate Solutions was held.
The event was held in a hybrid format: in person at ProChile's headquarters and remotely, connecting with the institution's trade offices in Peru, Colombia, Mexico, and Spain—markets identified as priorities for the internationalization of the thirteen participating companies. These companies are Instacrops , AIN Water , Wenu Work , Kran , Suncast , Reciclapp , Capta Hydro , o2 Company , Remote Waters , Fresh Water Solutions , Cuencas Chile , Arcom , and Recylink .
In this way, through a pitch-type presentation, each of the thirteen participating companies presented their offer, export experience and target markets in order to strengthen ties with the commercial directors of ProChile.
The Director General of ProChile, Ignacio Fernández, commented that “this first Demo Day arose as a response to the request made by Climatech Chile, in the sense of publicizing its offer in markets determined by themselves based on their own interests.”
“We are interested in supporting the collaboration of small and medium-sized enterprises. This particular association brings together highly innovative companies, many of which are already exporting and which not only contribute to diversifying our export portfolio, but also to positioning us internationally as providers of highly demanded services such as those related to non-conventional renewable energies and mitigating the effects of the climate crisis,” Fernández added.
According to Constanza Levicán, President of Climatech Chile and Founder of Suncast, “based on the data provided by the Internationalization Survey requested by ProChile, answered by 22 members of our AG, we can say that 64% have already exported and that 45% of our associates are invoicing abroad or have international offices.”
“This first Demo Day is a step in a joint working group to promote and improve communication between ProChile and Climatech's member companies. The next activity will be an internationalization workshop on innovative climate solutions, to be held by the Spanish trade office on May 9,” Levicán added.
Pitch by market
For over an hour, in periods of no more than five minutes, each of the thirteen participating companies presented their offerings, export experience, and target markets to ProChile teams in Peru, Colombia, Mexico, and Spain. The companies' interest in these specific markets is part of the results of the Internationalization Survey commissioned by ProChile and administered to Climatech Chile member companies. The survey identified seven companies that have already exported to Mexico and seven that have already exported to Colombia. Furthermore, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, and Spain were identified as the markets of greatest export interest for this year.
The report indicates that each company has more than one target market. However, they were ranked according to their primary target market. Thus, the companies interested in Colombia are Ainwater and Instacrops; those interested in Spain are Wenu Work, Kran, and Suncast; those interested in Mexico are Reciclapp, Capta Hydro, O2 Company, and Remote Waters; and those interested in Peru are Fresh Water, Cuencas Chile, Arcom, and Recylink.
Claudia Moreno, Head of the Services and Tourism Subdepartment at ProChile, highlighted the main activities planned for the remainder of 2023 for these types of companies. For example, she mentioned two trade missions to Peru (June 13) and another to Mexico (August 27), as well as participation in the Expo Solar trade fair in Colombia (October 4-6).
“In addition to all these activities, we will be participating in COP 28, tentatively scheduled to take place from November 6 to 17 in Dubai. There, we will organize a side event to complement Chile's participation in this COP and strengthen the technical and commercial connections between our companies and their international sector counterparts in this unparalleled showcase,” Moreno added.
“We are also planning to bring a group of six to eight importers from various Latin American countries to Antofagasta, where a significant number of companies related to clean energy, energy efficiency, and green hydrogen solutions and services are concentrated. We hope to finalize this event in late October or early November,” Moreno concluded.
